The Senior Coalition has been following a small number of bills since the start of the 83rd Nevada Legislative Session. Below is a list of the bills the Coalition has voted to support.

SB76 – (Senate Committee on Judiciary for Secretary of State) Creates a new state restitution fund of $500,000 to compensate victims of securities fraud. At the conclusion of a civil or criminal case against the securities fraudster, the judge can order restitution, and the victim can file a claim for up to $25.000 from this fund to recover their loss. – 2/20/25 Senate Judiciary; heard, 4/11/25 work session, amend, pass.

AB 145 – (D’Silva, Considine, Dickman, Gray, Gurr, Hunt-Jackson, Karris, Kasama, O’Neill and Sen. Cruz-Crawford, Lange, Flores, Rogich) Provides new state benefits to veterans and their spouses: persons helping veterans with claims must be accredited if they charge a fee or donation; creates new coor- dinator for veterans hiring and mentoring programs; gives free state park admission to veterans’ widows and family membersof veterans killed on active duty – 3/31/25 Assembly Govt Affairs; amend, pass, exempt.

AB280 – (Jauregui) Requires rental application fees be re- turned by the landlord if the applicant is not chosen as a tenant and to return fees for background checks or credit reports if those reports are not run; requires an appendix describing fees and tenant rights in all rental agreements; provides for a pilot program in rent stabilization from July 2025 through Dec. 2026, in which a landlord cannot renew a rental agreement to raise the rent more than 10% on a tenant aged 62+ or who relies on Social Security benefits – 3/31/25 Assembly Commerce & Labor, amend & pass.

AB338– (Assembly Committee on Health & Human Services) Allows frail elderly seniors who have qualified to receive Medicaid benefits to receive attendant care/personal home care; creates a new statewide website to help people who need personal care services in their homes to research providers and connect with services. – 4/7/25 Assembly Health & Human Services, pass.

AB361 – (Hunt) Washoe and Clark counties must add more protective barriers and other technology on RTC buses and other vehicles to improve safety for its drivers– 3/31/25 As sembly Growth & Infrastructure, amend and pass.
