The City of Reno is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Izabella Baumann, as the new Senior Engagement Coordinator under the Equity and Community Relations Office. The focus of this position is to serve the Reno Senior community to increase engagement opportunities and meet the growing needs.

“I have worked with the Senior community in different capacities and recently obtained my Masters of Social Work. I have a passion for the Senior population and creating a better quality of life for them,” she said. “During my internship at the City of Reno, I have worked closely with the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee (SCAC), and have gained valuable experience. I am incredibly excited about my new role and eagerly look forward to working with numerous Seniors in the community!”

As a Senior Engagement Coordinator, Baumann’s responsibilities include advocating for Seniors, developing engagement activities and events, and conducting community outreach to foster collaboration with local Senior agencies and stakeholders. “I firmly believe in meeting Seniors wherever they are,

whether it’s by participating in various activity classes at recreation centers or attending resource fairs. These opportunities provide excellent avenues for connecting with Seniors.”

Some engagement opportunities underway are to reintroduce technology classes and organize field trips, recognizing that many Seniors actively engage in and appreciate the opportunity to travel and discover new destinations. Furthermore, Baumann will be collaborating with Neighbor Network of Northern Nevada (N4) and Reno Food Systems to help bridge the transportation and food insecurity gap within the Senior community.

“I have emphasized my commitment to closely collaborate with the Senior community and actively seek their input and feedback regarding engagement activities and events. The goal is to create a community where Seniors feel proud to call home.”

You’re invited to join the Senior Engagement Coordinator for a morning walk at West Street Plaza in Downtown Reno every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Future activities and walks are coming soon.
