The City of Reno is proud to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant through the AARP Community Challenge, a national initiative that supports quick-action projects to help communities become more livable for people of all ages. The funding will support the continued revitalization of Paradise Park Community Garden, located at 2475 Elementary Drive. The Paradise Park Community Garden is a vibrant green space designed to bring residents together and promote healthy living.

Thanks to the AARP grant, the garden will soon host a variety of new events and activities aimed at fostering intergenerational connections and healthy lifestyles. Planned programs include:

Paradise Park Community Garden

• Volunteer at the Community Garden

• Every Wednesday 8am – 11am

Paradise Pantry Stop by the garden to receive free and fresh produce while supplies last!

Movement and Tea at the Garden

Enjoy herbal tea and gentle exercises to relax and connect with others in a peaceful outdoor setting. Reserve your spot for the movement class.

• July 21, 7:30am

Flower Jar Workshop

Join us in the garden to cut flowers and practice simple mason jar arrangements. All materials provided! Limited capacity. Reserve your spot for the flower jar workshop.

• July 31, 9am-10:30am

Arts in Paradise

Join us for a free and fun sun catcher workshop in the garden, hosted in partnership with the Holland Project!

• August 6, 4:30pm – 6:30pm

Community members are encouraged to stop by the garden, participate in upcoming events, and see firsthand the positive changes taking place. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just looking for a peaceful place to connect with neighbors, the Paradise Park Community Garden has something for everyone.

Additionally, a pop-up shredding event will take place on September 18 at Neil Road Recreation Center from  1am-1pm.
