The City of Reno wishes everyone a joyful and peaceful holiday season! May this time of year bring happiness, warmth, and togetherness to all members of our community.
We are delighted to share the success of our annual Adopt-a-Senior program, a partnership with the Sanford Center for Aging. Through this initiative, City of Reno staff members had the opportunity to “adopt” 30 local seniors, providing gifts from their holiday wish lists and spreading cheer to some of our community’s most cherished members.
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that Budget-Friendly Cooking Classes are being offered on the third Wednesday of each month at the Elks Lodge, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. These classes, proudly sponsored by the Senior Citizen Advisory Committee (SCAC) and Councilmember Meghan Ebert. These classes offer seniors valuable tips on affordable, nutritious cooking and a chance to come together over a shared love of food and learning.
Looking for more ways to connect, or learn something new? Be sure to check out Reno.gov/Seniors for details on upcoming events and activities designed to enhance the lives of our senior residents. From wellness programs to social gatherings, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season.
Thank you to our wonderful community members, partners, and staff who make initiatives like these possible. Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday Season and a bright New Year filled with health, happiness, and memorable moments.
