Senior Fest returns to Reno Town Mall, September 3, 9-2 p.m., helping seniors, caregivers, and veterans connect to resources to aid independence and good health.
In its 27th year history, it is safe to say no two Senior Fest events are alike. However, one thing is consistent, the event connects the community with senior friendly businesses, non- profits, organizations and friends.
“Every year more services are available for those who are fortunate enough to be aging in place in our community,” said Senior Fest organizer Connie McMullen. “We are committed to guaranteeing there are resources offered and connections made for those who are new to Northern Nevada, and those who are just discovering the many services available in our community.”
This year, Senior Fest organizers are excited to offer numerous vaccines not available at previous events. Partners Safeway and Northern Nevada Public Health are providing the follow- ing vaccines:
• FLU: Standard and High Dose for 65+ years old. • COVID: 2024-2025 (if available)
• RSV: (Arexvy) for people 60+ years old.
• Shingles: for people 50+ years old.
• Prevnar 20: for people 19+ years old with conditions like diabetes, respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease.
Participants are advised to bring their medical, prescription and / or Medicare Part B Card to the appointment date and their CDC vaccination card or digital record for their 2nd or booster dose appointments. Vaccines will be administered on the left side of the steps that lead to the lower section of the mall. (Look for signage).
Senior Fest will have over 55 vendors in attendance inside the mall. Music and entertainment, as well as a light snack at 11 a.m. will be held outside, along with coffee provided by My Favorite Muffin & Bagel Cafe and DoughBoys Donuts.
