AARP Nevada State Resources and Volunteer Opportunities

There are thousands of AARP members here in Northern Nevada who are unaware of all the benefits and opportunities offered by our AARP state office, AARP Nevada, located in Las Vegas. The state staff provides resources in southern, northern, and rural Nevada. There’s a great website at https://states.aarp.org/nevada/ that’s full of Nevada-specific resources and activities around the state including information on health, fitness, gardening, cooking, dance, art, finances, caregiving, Medicare, Social Security, elections, social isolation, scam prevention and more. You can also call the state office at 866 389 5652. Sign up for emails at www.aarp.org/yes2email.nv. Joining AARP costs only $16 for you and other members of your household and gives you many discounts and other member benefits. Anyone 50+ can join, though most events and activities do not require you to be a member of AARP to participate.

In Northern and Rural Nevada, many AARP events and activities are organized and run by AARP State Volunteers with the support of the AARP Nevada state office staff who sometimes travel to lead some events such as Movies for Grownups on June 26, 2024, at 1 pm at Cinemark Century Riverside in Reno; Northern Nevada Shredfest on June 16 at Reno Town Mall from 9 am to noon and UCP’s Concert in the Parking Lot on October 5 from 11 am to 3 pm at 2350 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks across from Paradise Park. AARP State Volunteers also host Wednesday Walks in Paradise Park at 10 am, monthly Zoom meetings for Age-Friendly Reno activities on the fourth Tuesday at 3 pm, swing dance classes on the fourth Saturday from 1-4 pm at the Ballroom of Reno, AARP Driver Safety classes and Tax-Aide doing tax returns for seniors during tax season. The website for these local Washoe County events and hundreds more online events is https://local.aarp.org/reno-nv/aarp-events/
