As a part of National Rebuilding Month and National Volunteer Month campaign, on Friday, April 4, dozens of volunteers from The Home Depot Foundation and Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada teamed up to upgrade the home of local senior couple, Patricia and Donald Gallimore, who have lived in their Reno home for decades.

Patricia and Donald continue to give back to their community through local volunteerism and community advocacy work. But after many years of working in the community, Patricia and her husband are no longer able to manage the upkeep of the home they’ve shared for 34 years.

Volunteers worked to improve the safety and accessibility of their house, allowing the couple to age in place comfortably and maintain their cherished family home where they are raising their grandchildren.

Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada and Team Depot –The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force — made several repairs including rebuilding the couple’s deteriorating back deck and staircase, replacing the damaged front door with a secure screen door, installing a new front gate, removing branches from the roof, and cleaning up debris around the property.

April, the month of the repairs to the Gallimore home, holds a unique significance for Rebuilding Together as it celebrates both National Rebuilding Month and National Volunteer Month, underscoring the heart of their mission.
